Skin Lab Sustainability Plan
Here at Skin Lab, I believe in the power of change and that even the smallest business can make a difference in this ever-challenging world. Trying to do my bit to operate in a more sustainable way by offering clients sustainable, eco-friendly treatments with a clean packaging promise.
Promise: The products used will be sourced from reputable suppliers using natural, cruelty-free, sustainably sourced (wherever possible) ingredients and packaged in a 100% recyclable way.
Mission: To enable my clients to look and feel incredible without contributing further damage to our beautiful planet.
Vision: To be recognised as a responsible and eco-aware skin centre/beauty salon – leaders in the campaign to promote sustainability in the Beauty, Care & Cosmetics industries by promoting the usage and disposal of eco-friendly products and consumables to achieve the lowest viable environmental footprint possible.
WHAT I’VE DONE SO FAR:
When I selected my beauty care range, I wanted to work with a company that put sustainability at its heart. I chose Dermalogica as the provider as they have a deep commitment to sustainability under their Healthy Skin, Healthy Planet Initiative.
Dermalogica products are cruelty free, use no artificial colours or fragrances and contain no parabens or microplastics.
In 2023, I installed a Solar PV system to minimise the amount of electricity required from the grid, which will support the Irish Governments plans to reduce grid demand
One of the truths about the beauty industry is that it’s one of the worst culprits when it comes to plastic pollution. My mission is to limit not only our own impact on the environment, but others’ too. With this in mind, I launched our new Recycling Scheme in the salon; which aims to reduce the amount of Dermalogica containers that end up in landfill sites.
The salon building is fully insulated to minimise heat losses
LED lights are installed everywhere – reducing energy used by up to 95%
I reviewed the heating system and installed an alternative system that uses less energy to deliver the existing level of comfort.
Offset any residual carbon footprint by planting native Irish Woodland trees based on 1 native Irish tree planted for each €250 spend on Dermalogica products at the salon.
In 2023, 2024 & 2025, 100 native Irish trees will be planted on behalf of Skin Lab, in Cavan by Ramor Landscapes.
Continually review our operation to identify additional actions we could take to be even more sustainable
My Request to You
